Troll Resort is a family-friendly British Columbia ski area that gets plenty of natural snow. It gets so much early snow that they are even able to be open with good conditions seven days a week as early as late November!

This Canadian Rockies resort was first built by Lars Fossberg in 1972 and to this day is run by the same family. Over the years it has developed into a great mountain with 1,700 feet (518 m) of vertical rise.

Overall, it’s an intermediate mountain, but still has a fun beginning/lesson area as well as some black diamond runs. The runs are long, with great fall lines and lots of wide-open space to link your turns.

Troll Ski Resort also has two terrain parks, one a mini park for beginners to get their feet wet on and for experts to warm up on. The big park is a kilometer long, and has all kinds of jumps, boxes and rails. You can find the big terrain park at the top of the red lift.

The slopes are all south facing and offer beautiful views of the valley below and lots of sunshine. And the pleasant days of skiing just don’t stop- Troll is usually open until late April!

When you need a warm-up, head into the day lodge, a rustic log building complete with a huge cozy fireplace perfect for warming your toes!

The ski school offers a variety of excellent programs (recognized by the Canadian Ski Alliance) and the resort hosts a few fun events throughout the year, including a free pancake breakfast on New Years, freestyle riders camps, big air and slope style contests, demo days, tele festivals and downhill races like the Little World Cup and the Gold Rush Downhill.

Troll Mountain also has numerous trails for cross-country skiing, and plenty of backcountry area for dog sledding and snowmobiling.

The resort is located 28 miles (45 km) east of Quesnel on the Barkerville Highway.
