Powder, powder and more powder is what you’ll find at Whitewater Winter Resort in southern British Columbia. A stunning average of 540 inches (1,372 cm) of snow blankets the trails every year!
In fact, Powder Magazine has called Whitewater, “One of the best powder mountains on the continent,” and Ski Canada has awarded them Best Deeps, Best Bowls and Best Glades in the country.
Ymir Mountain, in the Canadian Rockies, is home to the charming ski resort that attracts attention (and skiers) from all around the globe. Ymir peaks at 8,000 feet (2,400 m), but the ski area has a top elevation of 6,700 feet (2,040 m).
The lodge at Whitewater sits at 5,400 feet (1,640 m), which gives the resort an overall vertical rise of 1,300 feet (396 m).
Whitewater is big enough to have something for everyone, whether its glades, bowls, steeps, chutes groomed cruisers or easy runs for beginners. The 46 runs at Whitewater are spread across 1,180 acres.
The terrain is broken down as 20% beginner, 40% intermediate and 40% advanced, plus a rail park.

The Nordic Centre at Whitewater has 13 trails on 9.3 miles (15 km) of cross-country ski trails, all with breathtaking mountain views. They are groomed and track set, ready for classic or skate-style skiers.
The daring, and the schooled, can head into Whitewater’s peaceful, rugged backcountry. It’s an incredible experience, but only ski and snowboarding enthusiasts with the proper equipment and knowledge should venture out of bounds. The good news is Whitewater can help get you to that point, with their expert slopes and bi-weekly avalanche awareness courses.
The winter season runs from early December to early April.
