Ski Canada: Pass Powderkeg Ski Hill

Pass Powderkeg is located in the middle of Crowsnest Pass in the Canadian Rockies, just outside of Blairmore, Alberta.

At Pass Powderkeg, you can experience a vertical rise of 1,312 feet (400 m) with terrain is classified as 25% easy, 42 % more difficult and 33% most difficult.

Two lifts service the 12 trails that are overall family-friendly, but still offer some challenging runs for more advanced skiers and boarders.

The ski school at Pass Powderkeg offers classes for adults as well as children.Their CSIA certified instructors can help you make your first turn or fine tune your skiing or boarding skills while in Alberta.

Other great features at the mountain resort include snowmaking, a terrain park and night skiing.

Also at the mountain you’ll find a rental shop, cafeteria, lounge, a lodge available for renting and the ticket office. Ask about their group rates!

The mountain resort hosts events throughout the year, including Alberta Family Day, the John Spina Memorial Team Relay Race, the Torchlight Parade, Dummy Downhill, the Slush Cup and the Rail Jam Freestyle Event.

Pass Powderkeg Ski Hill is only 2.5 hours from Calgary, 1.5 hours from Lethbridge and 45 Minutes from Fernie Alpine Resort.

To reach the mountain from Calgary and Lethbridge take Highway 3 west until Blairmore. From Sparwood, Fernie or Cranbrook, take the same highway east. Once in the town of Blairmore, take 129th Street to 17th Avenue and then hang a right onto 126th Street. When you reach a three-way intersection, you’ll find a road sign noting the access road for the ski lodge.
